Bono Quote
Great Bono quote from "Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas", via Thunderstruck:
"Coolness might help in your negotiation with people through the world, maybe, but it is impossible to meet God with sunglasses on. It is impossible to meet God without abandon, without exposing yourself, being raw. That's the connection with great music and art, and that is why it's uncomfortable, that is why cool is the enemy of it, because that's the other reason you wanted to join a band: you wanted to do the cool thing. Trying to capture religious experiences on tape wasn't what you had in mind when you signed up for the job."
I just ordered the book, and am looking forward to reading it. Also looking forward to seeing U2 live in Boston in 17 days!
More Donald Miller
As I posted before, i've been enjoying Donald Miller's latest books, Blue Like Jazz, and Searching for God Knows What. The dude can write. It's one thing to read his stuff, and probably another to hear him. I was in Boston in Febuary, and missed hearing him speak at Harvard by a couple of days.
Today i stumbled accross the website for his home church in Portland, Imago Dei Community. I noticed there was a section with recent sermons by the pastor of the church, Rick , and when i scrolled down, i found a couple of sermons by Mr Miller himself! Some very interesting stuff.
You can find the sermons here.
I still think Don needs to come to PEI for some coffee and a visit!
Welcome to www.speakergeek.com
Well, here it is. My very own little domain. I feel like i've crossed some sort of "geek" line. Ah well, i guess there's no turning back now.
This place ain't all that pretty yet, but it should look a whole lot better soon. Thanks again to Derek for giving me the space for my old blog. And a big thanks to silverorange for this space, and the gallery space as well.
My new job has me sitting in front of a computer quite a bit more than my last one, so i'm looking forward to posting a fair bit more than i used to.
So, without further ado....
Welcome to www.speakergeek.com .
Three Easy Steps to Improve Your Life
Who would have thought improving ones life would be so easy?
Step 1: Go to Home Depot and purchase new shower head.
Step 2: Before attaching shower head, remove the crappy little "low flow" plastic restictor.
Step 3: Enjoy shower with full water pressure.
Seriously, try it.
Real Live Preacher Interview
Jevon sent me this link to an audio interview with the Real Live Preacher that was done a few years ago by Christopher Lydon. There is also a link on that page to one of the Preachers stories, which he reads aloud. The interview is excellent, as is the story.
