My friend Mike has figured out what the secret is behind the ABC television series Lost. He, like me, has been following the show since the first season, and we sometimes talk about the different plot-lines as well as some of the many theories that are out there about the show on the internet.
Well, Mike has the best theory yet. He has figured out that the Lost island is actually Fantasy Island. Yes, that Fantasy Island.
Lost = Fantasy Island

His theory suggests that in the late 1970's / early 80's, a group of scientists [The DHARMA Initiative] invaded Fantasy Island to study its mystical and magical properties. The residents of the Island became angry at the prospect of losing their island and revolted against the scientists - thus becoming 'The Others'. The rest as they say - is history.. and a really good TV show.
Other things to note:
- People arrived on both Islands via 'De plane! De plane!'.
- Crazy supernatural stuff happened on both Islands.
- When people leave either Island, they are never allowed to tell other people what happened there.
- People often experienced healing on both Islands.
- 'Time travel' occurs on both Islands.
- Both series were broadcast on ABC.
- No one really knows where either Island is.
- Mr Roarke doesn't have a first name. Or does he? We are pretty sure his first name is Jacob....
As you can see, it is quite obvious that my friend Mike is the first one to crack the code of Lost. I'm trying to convince him to write a book about his theory, or at the very least, a pamphlet.

Jacob = Mr. Roarke

You know how I found your blog? I googled "lost=fantasy island" when I came up with the same theory. You may have come up with it first, but I'm only half way through season 1...

Me three! Brilliant concept, and quite plausible if so many people are gravitating towards the same idea.

Yup, that is how I got here, too! I think it is just as plausible as any other theory! :)

...and me - that makes 5

I also independently arrived at this same theory (Lost island is also Fantasy Island). What a mind-blowing series finale is store for us all. Too bad Herve Villechaize (Tattoo) and Ricardo Montalban (Mr. Roarke)are dead in real life, or are they? The only twist that could make this any better would be that the entire group of Oceanic 815 survivors is rescued by none other than Captain Stubing and the Love Boat crew.

I've been toying with this idea since I started watching Lost during Season 2. What I'd love to see (and unfortunately don't have the skills to produce) is a video montage combining scenes from Lost and "Fantasy Island". Its closing sequence would be
1. Charlie's "Guys, where are we?" from the Lost pilot episode.
2. Mr. Rourke "Welcome to Fantasy Island"
3. The standard Lost credit thing (white "Lost" on black background twisting into the scene, with that sound it always makes), but with the words saying "Fantasy Island" instead.

Mr. Rourke is really Richard (Nestor Carbonell) in a regressed state of perpetual young adulthood.
Tattoo is smoky.

After a 4 year absence Fantasy Island returned in great style with a 10,000 capacity New Years Eve event. The main arena was Hard House, they also had Hardcore, Old Skool, Drum n' Bass and House arena...
