Generally, i am the kind of person who doesn't really skimp on products when i purchase something. I usually don't mind paying a little extra for something of quality rather than save a few bucks and end up with an inferior product.
For some reason, yesterday, I decided to go against my usually buying habits, and purchase a "T-Bone Sahara Deluxe Gas BBQ" from Walmart. I enjoy cooking meat over a nice propane flame, but I just could not justify paying $200 or more for a decent grill, so I decided to go the route of the bargain grill. It was $79 and it was a very large mistake.
It took me three hours to put the friggin thing together. THREE HOURS! The worst part of that is that it was PARTIALLY ASSEMBLED! And there is a fairly large, somewhat important looking piece left over, which I wasn't able to put into place, even using brute force. After 3 hours, it was together [mostly], a little wobbly, but together none the less. It was 9:30pm when I finished, and I decided to check the freezer for some delicious meat to grill.
All I had was hot dogs. And no buns or bread.
I couldn't christen the new grill [no matter how crappy is might be] with hot dogs. So at 9:30pm I headed for Nicks Groceries on St Peters Rd to purchase some steak, and new potato's. My supper was ready to eat at around 10:30pm. It was tasty.
I'm hoping this BBQ will at least last me the summer, though i have to admit, every time i look at it, I am filled with a small amount of rage at my stupidity for going for the bargain. It is quite possible that before the summer is out, I will take a sledgehammer to the whole thing. Or if someone out there wants a bargain grill, give me a call. I'll let this sucker go pretty cheap, and you wont have to waste 3 hours putting it together.

Dennis, you're a good, and trusted friend but really who buys a BBQ with a name like that?
"T -Bone Sahara Deluxe"...just think about it. The Sahara is a huge desert, everything becomes a T-Bone out there!
Imagine what the "T-Bone Sahara Standard" must look like?

I must disagree, I bought a bargain grill over 10 years ago now, and it has become my trusted friend. The el cheapo, piezo ignitor just recently gave up due to old age, and this compadre of a grill has now outlived two propane tanks. And it's still going strong. Yes there have been many memories, such as the "Beer Can Chicken" that caught fire, or the overloaded side burner. Many mystery meat chunks have been charred on it, and I am sure it will have many more years of service in it.
So Dennis, I guess the message is this. Get over your buyers regret, and enjoy the fact that you have saved some money to purchase some late night premium meat chunks. And like a good pair of shoes, your new trusted BBQ friend will take some getting used to and some breaking in. I for one am always up for some T-bones, so if you feel the need to cook for some friends to break your new flame thrower in, dont' hesitate to give me a call.
