The Wonder Years
While i was at Amazon.ca i took a look at some of the other series that are available, and noticed there is one amazing TV show that currently has no Series Box Set available.
The Wonder Years.
Why is it that you can buy the complete first season of Newlyweds, Lois and Clark, and Survivor, but you can't buy one of the greatest TV shows ever made? It just doesn't seem right to me. There seems to be a market for just about every TV show, and i'm quite sure that a full series DVD set of the Wonder Years would sell quite well.
I did find a couple of sketchy looking DVD sets of the Wonder Years online, but neither of them look to be that well put together. Or legal for that matter. ABC or whoever owns the rights to the show should get its act together and release a box set.
I know I would buy it.

Hi people...
i'm a huge fan of the wonder years an i cant agree more than you guys that the show should be in DVD... i've been trying to get a hold of the movies but up until now still nowhere near it...it's either not for sale outside us or just for american and canadian citizen only... then where am i suppose to get it?...i'm living in malaysia and i really want it...somebody please help me...
KathyMarie - January 28, 2007 6:47 am
DO NOT order anything from tvdvdplanet.com Please research this. Everyone is getting ripped off by not receiving their items ordered, or receiving poor quality. Their web site customer support phone number and e-mail addresses are bogus. They say they offer 24/7 customer support but believe me... you cannot reach them. They have nearly $500.00 of my money and I haven't received what I have ordered. This company is under investigation by the BBB and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Federal Investigations division.

I bought one of the 7 disc sets (pirated basically) off of Ebay since they do not sell an official set, and when they ever do it may not have all the original music. Unfortunately had it been done with a DVD recorder would have been better, but you can tell they took it from VHS to DVD and some of the episodes qualities are better than others. I guess they reused some of the same VHS tapes over and over. Atleast its better than nothing and worth the $40 I paid. From what I have read Fox or whoever owns the rights will not likely get the rights to use all the songs they used originally (back then they did not think to put in the contract rights to use the popular songs on recordable device, just for on-air purposes). So ask yourself, do you want to wait for an official full price release, then it not have all the great songs that fit each moment so perfectly?

what the hell you guys need to give it up!!! watch porn or something
Ronm - April 9, 2007 3:46 pm
I bought the one from tvdvdplanet and it appears pirated off of a TV recording since it says "ABC Family" in the lower right corner of the screen most of the time. Some shows are fuzzy. I paid $99 but now they sell it for under $50. Better than not being able to watch at all I guess, if you don't mind the problems.
SK - April 28, 2007 6:52 pm
I have the entire series on 17-discs (all 115 episodes). The quality is very good and it has all the original music and footage. Obviously it's not the official DVD, because such a thing doesn't exist, but it's the best out there at the moment. Email me if you're interested. I'm selling it for $50 + $5 shipping ($55 total).

My mum spent a fortune on one of these 'official' set for me for Christmas and has been robbed!! The first dvd was 'Little House on the Prarie', one dvd has no sound, on is 'Sister Sister' and the rest are what I can only call shoddy and messy work which have been recored from the TV(ABC being in the corner!). I feel so sad for her as she saved up for a long time for these for me. I am trying to locate who owns the rights to the show so that I can make them aware that their 'fans' are being taken for fools and maybe they will investigate. If anyone has any information for me to help me with this then please let me know. Failing that DO NOT BUY these rip off dvds!!
Jess - February 9, 2008 6:48 pm

Hey guys, I've bought from this site before and got everything in working order.
I bought an Are You Afraid of the Dark complete series for 15 bucks. It looks like it was copied off cassettes, the quality is of a VHS or worse, but everything is in working order.
They have the Wonder Years Set for $14.50 shipped. It's worth it to me.

Yeah probably a set of 7 discs with bad quality...Id rather pay more and have a good quality set.
ystejam5150 - January 24, 2009 8:45 pm
Has any one compared the quality between the 15, 16, and 20 disk sets? Are there any sets that are digitally recorded directly from TV. I can record my 6 hour VHS tapes but I am looking for better quality.
Annie - January 27, 2009 7:50 pm
I bought 2 full sets online a year ago (112 episodes--3 episodes are missing). They work fine! Contact Mike - Mikeinpgh (at)hotmail.com or Annie - Annieklawuhn (at)hotmail.com if interested. Thanks!

A friend told me the reason you will never see a DVD edition of the wonder years, is because all the music was only licensed for television. it would be too costly, and a pain for them to re-license all of the songs they used.
Hageman - January 8, 2010 5:18 pm
I was also a big van of de series. Is there already news of the wonders years are being released on dvd? Greetings Cis Hageman The Netherlands
JessicaProulx - January 27, 2010 4:43 pm
I know that a DVD edition of the Wonder Years would cost ABC an arm and a leg - but, I am sure the fans would be willing to pay more than any stupid dvd of "survivor" or whatever the new fad is.
It needs to happen, it is probably the most requested television series yet to release.
I am also a Freaks and Geeks fan, and they worked long and hard to release their series with the music intact... I hope it will happen for The Wonder Years.
